a hit-and-run in oakland that killed a bicyclists police have now arrested a woman in connection with last night's crash. officers found the victim in the 2600 block of p era lta street at about 10:20. he was pronounced dead at the hospital. according to the oakland tribune the driver returned to the scene a few hours later and police took her into custody. investigators have not yet released the names of either the victim or the driver. >>> we now know the identity of a man killed in a head on crash yesterday morning on highway 54 in sonol. 46-year-old todd sherr was driving east when he crossed a double yellow line and into the path of another vehicle. sherrwood was pronounced dead at the scene. the driver and two passengers in that second car had minor injuries. >>> we have new information about a triple shooting at a san francisco nightclub. police say the shooting early yesterday morning stemmed from an argument inside the 330 rich nightclub not far from at&t park. authorities have determined one man was shot inside the club. another was shot in front of the club and the thi

are recovering in oakland after being shot hours from each other. the latest shooting happened around 8:00 last night. our media partner reports the teen is in critical but stable condition. a 17-year-old student jogging near fremont high school was shot not leg but will be okay. the principal says counselors will talk to students about coping with violence in the community. no arrests in either shooting so far. >> the oakland first friday art festival starts with changes after the deadly shooting of a high school senior. businesses and organizers are discussing ways to improve safety. the event starts at 5:00 and ends at 9:00, an hour earlier. extra police and private security will be on patrol. the size of the venue has been reduced from a dozen blocks to five blocks. performances are focused around "healing." >> the fremont police department has announced plans for a gun buyback program march 16. a donation by a private citizen allows them to host the buy back for residents and will be held at the fremont fire training facility on stevenson boulevard. the money to be offered was not provided

after his car broke down. the man's car was parked near the center divider on 580 in oakland just after midnight. authorities believe he was trying to run across the freeway to safety when he was hit. police are not releasing the man's identity at this point. >>> and in hayward this afternoon, a father was driving with his family on a busy street. he ended up in the line of fire and was shot. it happened around 2:30 on ten tennyson road. they don't believe the father was the intended target. >> what it appear, the victim of the gunshot wound was a family member, a dad, driving with his wife and child through the area to visit family, and was probably the unintended target of a drive-by shooting. we did find some casings thrown about in the roadway that indicate they'd came out of a moving vehicle. >> the father, who drove himself to the hospital, is expected to survive. his wife and child were not injured. police have not yet released a description of a gunman or the suspect car. >>> an indian spiritual leader invited leaders to the san jose convention center today to talk about reducin

dropped a case again a thief who hit the oakland museum clearing the way for federal charges. a federal complaint was filed against this man, andre franklin on friday. police say franklin stole a gold rush era jewelry box from the open museum january 9th. it was worth more than $800,000. he's also expected of stealing gold nuggets and gold rush era pistol from the museum on november 12 but has yet to be charged. >>> we can tell you there's a new plan for the lafayette hillside where thousands of crosses stand marking the lives lost in the wars both in iraq and afghanistan. jeev heaton, he's the man that started that memorial when the war started back in 2003. right now there are 4,000 crosses on display. but if there was more room, there would be 6701 for each american killed in iraq and afghanistan. heaton says the crosses will be removed when the soldiers return. he tells nbc bay area he hopes the hillside will then be use to house veterans. >> ultimately we could try to get permission to put veteran housing at this location, which i think would be a fantastic use of the property. mos

police often a chase from hayward to oakland. the car crashed into the center median on eastbound 580 between grand avenue and park boulevard around midnight. the officer noticed the car was swerving and tried to pull the driver over but he took off. the investigators are trying to figure out if the same car was involved in a drive by shooting, as well. >> the family of a bay area marine killed on thursday's shooting at quantico marine base is making plans to go to washington, dc, to receive her remains. a pentagon official tells the "washington post" the shooting may have arisen from a romantic entanglement. a woman was shot to death with a marine from mississippi by a 25-year-old instructor, sergeant lopez of pacifica. lopez, then, shot himself. her mother and sister were notified by the marine corps at their home on friday. they want her to be remembered for her smile. >> everyone can tell you her smile. she always had a smile on her face. >> this is sara's prom picture. she joined the marines after graduating from high school. lopez served one tour in iraq and two tours in afghani
